Sol Vista Trail Map | Ski Conditions | Sol Vista Reviews
"Winter Wonderland" describes the world you happen upon when staying at Kicking Horse Lodges condominium. Besides the tranquility of a warm fireplace and outdoor hot tubs, you will enjoy a wealth of winter activities: downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, night skiing, tubing, snowmobiling, snowball fights, and even a relaxing hot mineral springs pool.
Sol Vista Ski Basin: Sol Vista Ski Basin has often been referred to as the "best-kept secret around." The friendly, unhurried, and non-crowded atmosphere attracts families to Sol Vista Basin. 80% of the 33 downhill trails at Sol Vista are devoted to intermediate and beginner skiing. One convenient base anchors the advanced/intermediate side of the skiable terrain to the intermediate/beginner side. Because all of the lifts radiate from the same base area, families with different skiing abilities can easily keep in touch with one another throughout the day. You can take the Kicking Horse Lodge lift from our condo, and then ski down to the Quick Silver and Conquest lifts which will give you access to all of the downhill runs. Don’t forget to inquire about the ski classes offered at Sol Vista. Sol Vista’s European technique enables children to bypass the "snowplow" step of skiing. Definitely, the right way to begin!
Granby Ranch Nordic Ski Trails: You can ski 25 km of non-crowded, groomed trails, winding through the forest bordering Sol Vista Basin’s two alpine ski hills. Climb to the top for unsurpassed views of the Continental Divide and the Indian Peaks Range. You can reach the trails just east of our condo’s front door. Or, skiers may choose to purchase a one-ride lift ticket for $5, which takes you to the cross-country trails starting at the top of the mountain. Surprisingly, there is no trail fee!
Night-time Skiing at Sol Vista: Offered from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on select Saturday nights. Ski all day, come home for dinner, and then set out to enjoy the quiet night sky as you ski once more through the alpines. Ski-in/ski-out never looked so good!
Winter Park Ski Resort: For a change of pace, Winter Park Ski Resort is only 20 minutes away from our condominium. For the real adventurous, try Mary Jane’s triple black slopes!
Tubing at Fraser Hill: Fraser is only 10 minutes away from our condo. Take the T-bar to the top of the tubing hill. Perfect family fun for the kid in all of us!
Snowmobiling at Grand Lake: Grand Adventures in Grand Lake offers groomed trails and guided and unguided snowmobile rentals. Be sure to call ahead for reservations (970-726-9247).
Snow Mountain Ranch Nordic Trails: Less than 5 miles south of our condominium, Snow Mountain Ranch has 100 km of groomed cross-country tracks and trails through pine forests and wide meadows. Nordic ski rentals as well as the required trail pass can be purchased at the Ranch’s ski shop.
Hot Sulphur Springs: Only 10 minutes away from our condominium. Relax in one of twenty natural mineral indoor and outdoor hot pools and private baths. After a long day of skiing, back-to-nature never felt so good!
